New functions added in FLEXSCHE Version 14

FLEXSCHE Version 14.0 was released on June 16, 2014. Many functions are newly added or improved. Here are some major ones. (Differences from Version 13.0)

FLEXSCHE Analyzer

Production scheduler is a kind of highly modeled, virtual factory. Various data accumulated in a scheduler is no doubt a treasure trove. You can obtain valuable information for the manufacturing by extracting various indices and by analyzing them from diversified aspects. The information will be not only useful for manufacture planning but also to make management decisions. FLEXSCHE Analyzer provides a mechanism to achieve this.

FLEXSCHE Analyzer can be utilized in the scene below:

FLEXSCHE Analyzer first collects data within FLEXSCHE, and generate "datacube (multi-dimensional, layered data)". How to generate datacube can be freely defined by the user, by using "takt expression". "Datacube Viewer", which is for browsing generated datacube, can specify the axes to display and can open and shut the layer of the data, so that the enormous information can be grasped effectively and diversifiedly.

Note: In addition, instead of datacube, you can generate data set (data in table format),
which can be exported to a file, and referred to by the scheduling rule.

Moreover, by specifying the axis and range, and by extracting values from the datacube, you can make graphs. The type of graphs created by FLEXSCHE Analyzer 14.0 are listed below.


Radar chart can be easily created based on the built-in evaluation indices listed below. Graphs by multiple scheduling results can be overlaid, so it is useful for tuning up the scheduling rules.

Average working time / Average changeover time / Total changeover time / Count of unassigned operations / Count of delivery delay / Average of margin to due time / Average production lead time / Count of changeover / Average production and shipping lead time / Average simple detention time / Total delivery delay time / Total working time

These indices can be freely edited.

Graphs can be viewed on FLEXSCHE screen. Moreover, as they are created in HTML5 files, they can be viewed on Web browser, and printed.

Operation markers

Now markers can be displayed for gaps between task bars on the resource Gantt chart depending on conditions. The simple settings like "highlighting" of the existing operation display color specification or the advanced settings with a conditional expression can be chosen. The maker color can also be specified flexibly. It can be set at [Chart display settings]-[Resource Gantt chart]-[Operation markers].

Time band restriction particular for a chart

Previously, a display time band restriction could be specified as a common configuration for the entire project, but now it can be specified for each chart individually. It can be specified at [Chart display settings]-[Overall charts]-[Time axis]-[Time band specification particular for a chart].

Restricting target parts on load charts

Target parts for the sum data can be selected on load charts. Changeovers can be excluded from the sum data, or conversely, only changeovers can be included in it.

Preset values for non-workday settings of charts

In order to cater uses in foreign countries, non-workday settings of charts can be specified with an external file. If national holidays of a country are configured in the file, they will automatically be reflected as non-workdays in the chart.

Format Strings with Conditions

"Changing by Condition" is added to display strings of resource Gantt charts and order Gantt charts so that strings to be displayed can be switched by condition. For example, when a user wants to check different information by operation, strings corresponding to that condition can be displayed.

Protecting and copying a project

Projects can be protected in order to prevent them from being saved unintentionally. "No protection," "Check on saving," or "Prevent it from being saved" can be chosen. Also, in addition to the existing "Save," a copy of a project can be saved in the new version.

Changed tool buttons for high resolution

The size and design of tool buttons are changed so that it is easy to operate even in a high resolution environment. The drawing of time series charts is changed to a neat design.

Hiding operations of resource Gantt charts

Operations can be hidden on resource Gantt charts depending on conditions. The display can be clear by configuring the display condition like narrowing down to certain order items for display even there are many operations on a chart.

Modeling & scheduling

Temporarily placed process relations

A function is added so that external BOM data which doesn't have any process connection information can still be incorporated as it is. Incorporated BOM data can be displayed on the process editor and processed to be turned into necessary data for the scheduler. This can be utilized to link data with general production management systems.

Key specifier at the key standby

Key type can be specified at the key standby of the command execution method.

Changeover by numeric spec.

At a changeover due to attribution changes of preceding and following operations on the resource, previously "item," "subsidiary resource," "spec.," and "string" can be selected, but now "numeric value" can also be selected. For example, "when an operation is changed from a narrow one to a wide one, changeover is x hours" can be set easily.

Enhancing squad resources

The advanced option "squad resource" function is enhanced, and now the maximum number of resources (number of persons) in the squad for each operation and the minimum resource quantity for each squad member can be specified by expressions.

Defining variables to rules

Variables can be defined for scheduling rules. With having variables as parameters used in the scheduling, it is possible to change parameters in one rule and compare the results of executions while planning a schedule.

Text and background colors of a cell

Text and background colors of a cell can be set freely. The color is reflected in real time. The color can be specified at [Upper menu of various data windows]-[Column settings]-[Edit column]-[Display color].

Conditional formatting can be embedded in the layout definition file in the new version. It is reflected to Excel report files to be generated.

Visualizing disposal quantities

Quantities to be disposed by the expiration time function (advanced option) is now drawn in orange on the MPS editor. Disposals are reflected as decreases of the available quantities on the FLEXSCHE d-MPS.

Selecting operations for daily production quantity and daily production demand quantities

[Select operation] is newly added to the popup menu of cells for daily production quantity and daily production demand quantity so that operations that produce or consume the equivalent quantity can be selected. They are also listed at "Selected operations" on the operation panel immediately.

Proportional distribution with maintaining changes for MPS daily request quantity

"Proportional distribution with maintaining changes" and "Automatic proportional distribution with maintaining changes" for the daily request quantity are implemented. The existing "proportional distribution" function completely resets a target daily request quantity and redistributes proportionally, and all adjustments which took time and efforts are all lost. "Proportional distribution with maintaining changes" distributes the increased or decreased quantity based on the current variability and the adjustments that have been made already will not be lost. In addition, if "Automatic proportional distribution with maintaining changes" is set to MPS calendar, "proportional distribution with maintaining changes" is automatically executed when the monthly demand quantity or monthly request quantity is increased or decreased.

Linking data with TPiCS-X Ver 4.0

Project templates are prepared for linking with the production management system TPiCS-X Ver 4.0 by TPiCS Laboratory, Inc. Various settings (such as rules) are included to read from or write to data on the TPiCS database directly via EDIF. Templates for this can be selected when a new project is created.
